Brazilian Zouk is a modern partner dance that uses a variety of sub-styles and is danced to many different genres of music.
Brazilian Zouk evolved from a 90’s dance that never took hold in Brazil called “lambada.” Prior to lambada, Brazilians listened to zouk music from the French Caribbeans which sounded similar to lambada. Zouk is music/dance genre from the Carribeans. Brazilian Zouk is only a dance genre.
